The first question a new family in any town may ask is, “How
good are the schools?” Morton’s schools are high quality,
not just because they meet educational standards, but also because
the community anticipates educational needs and implements additions
before need becomes critical.
Morton established the first public kindergarten program in the
state – nine years before it was mandated by state legislature.
Minimum standards in education, like everything else, are simply
not enough for the people of Morton.
Quality private schools are also accessible to Morton citizens.
Post-secondary educational systems in central Mississippi make
available a full range of programs from vocational-technical certificates
to academic and graduate degree programs. Within a 50-mile radius
are nine colleges including both two-year and four-year colleges
and universities.
