Even in medical care, Morton has the best of urban and small town
advantages, including excellent medical and dental care.
In 1989, Scott County lost one of its primary sources of healthcare
with the closing of West Scott Baptist Hospital. After four years
without the hospital, the vision of a number of people in the
community came to fruition with the opening of Scott Regional
Hospital. Through a great deal of hard work and effort, the team
that was formed to open the hospital were proud to open in June
1993, bringing quality healthcare back to Morton. Many of those
original team members have worked with the county for more than
20 years.
In a day of rural hospitals closing or striving to stay afloat,
Scott Regional Hospital has flourished. Putting the people they
service first and staffing the facility with top quality professionals
who are committed to caring for the community have made the hospital
what it is today.
On December 17, 2000, Morton’s own family Dr, Howard Clark
was awarded the “Country Doctor of the Year” award.
Mississippi Care Center of Morton, built in 1971, compliments
the outstanding medical care available in Morton.
Guardian Angel Hospice, Inc. provides both in-patient and out-patient
services to 13 counties with one of these counties being our own
county of Scott. The In-Patient First program is designed to prepare
the terminally ill patient for out-patient hospice care in the
home by utilizing in-patient hospice care as a bridge.
Morton and Scott County are committed to providing quality healthcare
for all residents.
Scott Regional Hospital opened in June 1993 providing quality health
care to the people of Morton and the surrounding area. On September 1,
2007, Scott Regional Hospital became a division of Rush Health Systems
in Meridian, MS, bringing financial stability, medical expertise, and
the opportunity for growth and development to the hospital. Rush
Health Systems, a valuable resource for Scott Regional Hospital, has
given the hospital access to the most up-to-date technology, specialty
physicians, expanded services, and improvements to the facility.
A critical access hospital, Scott Regional Hospital has 25 acute
beds/swing beds. Offering a variety of inpatient and outpatient services,
the hospital makes it convenient for people in Scott County and
surrounding areas to receive quality health care without having to drive
a long distance.
